How To Apply

How to Apply

Transfer and nontraditional applicants should submit the following items (View "how to apply" information for U.S. high school applicants or international high school applicants.)

Application Checklist

  1. An application for admission via the Common Application for Transfer Students (application opens annually on September 1). This includes:
  • The Agnes Scott Supplement
  • Professor Recommendation (professor invitation sent via the Common Application)
  • Official high school transcript or GED
  • Official college transcript for all colleges and universities you have attended
  • College Officials Report (recommended, but not required)
  • Not required: SAT or ACT scores. Test scores are optional, and you may make the choice about whether or not you would like them to be considered. If you choose to do so, you can self-report your test scores by attaching your score report to the Common Application.
  • Optional: Complete a virtual or in-person interview with your admission counselor. These interviews can be helpful if you would like to give context to parts of your application, discuss your interests and goals further or learn more about the college and admission process.
  1.  *Following receipt of your application, our Office of Admission may request additional information, such as an interview or recent grades, if necessary to review your application holistically.

Application Deadlines

We strongly encourage you to apply early. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis thereafter if space is available. You will be notified of an admission decision within a month of the deadline.

  • Deposit deadline for spring enrollment: December 5
  • Admission application and all supporting materials due: June 1
  • Deposit deadline for fall enrollment: July 1

We also encourage you to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by your application deadline to be considered for need-based aid; it must be submitted at least two months prior to the start of the semester in which you plan to enroll.

Academic Credit Policies for Transfer Students

Courses taken at other regionally accredited colleges and universities will be accepted in transfer provided that these courses are in subjects generally recognized as appropriate for liberal arts colleges and are either comparable to courses offered at Agnes Scott College or are applicable to a degree program at Agnes Scott. Transfer credit is given for grades of C- or better. No credit is given for academic courses with pass/fail or satisfactory/unsatisfactory grades. Transfer credit must be approved by the registrar's office.

A maximum of 64 academic and two physical education transfer credit hours may be applied toward an Agnes Scott degree. A student must earn a minimum of 64 hours in Agnes Scott academic courses toward the 128 hours required for the Agnes Scott degree.

To ensure that you receive a complete transfer credit evaluation as quickly as possible, please submit a catalog or course descriptions from the college(s) previously attended prior to your arrival at Agnes Scott. This evaluation will assist both you and your academic advisors as you select classes.

Grades for transfer credit are not factored into a student's grade point average at Agnes Scott.

Agnes Scott Time Limits

Nontraditional students may attend full time or part time. Full time at Agnes Scott is on average 16 credit hours per semester. If you seek a degree as a part-time student, you must complete your degree within:

  • Eight years of enrollment if initially classified as a first-year student
  • Six years of enrollment if classified as a sophomore
  • Four years of enrollment if classified as a junior or a senior

Please note that institutional financial aid is restricted to eight semesters for full-time students.
